Fun Sized

In this case study I was assigned with creating a redesign of Godzilla and act as if though I were pitching a comic to a company that owned the IP.

When approaching this idea began sketches of different scary versions of Godzilla destroying a town. I realized that most of my ideas had already been done, and I could push my creativity even more. I then thought, "What if Godzilla was small? From there I created concept art for my pitch. I designed a friend for Godzilla who lived in Okinawa Japan who would experience Slice of Life Adventures with her new unlikely friend: Fun sized Godzilla.

I then went to designing what the story would look like in action. I created a short two page spread of the backstory of how Godzilla became small and met the main character. The artstyle is inspired by manga techniques from Japan, which is where the story takes place.

When I revisited this project a year later I decided I wanted to make cover art for my characters. I incorporated a vibrant and fun color palette to show viewers if they read this comic they were in for some fun, laughs, and bittersweet moments. I had fun creating concept visualization of this case study am glad with how each of the parts came together.
